Triads on all fourth tuning system post thumbnail image

On guitar tuning in fourths, bass, Ableton push or Geoshred, playing triads is not as daunting as standard tuning guitar. For minor major, diminished triads, there are 3 shapes to remember, corresponding to root position, 1st inversion, 2nd inversion. There’s only 1 shape to remember for augmented triad

Minor triads

Root position
1st inversion
second inversion

Major triads

Root position
1st inversion
2nd inversion

Diminished triads

Root position
1st inversion
2nd inversion

Augmented triads

Augmented triad, only 1 shape

Tricks to visualize the whole fretboard

maps triads to fretboard

When mapping the triads to fretboard horizontally, the right most note of 1 shape will become the left most note of the next shape, at an octave higher. So basically, we can find the next shape by moving to the right of the left 2 frets.
